AYO MYTH: A new creative era for Mythm has emerged

Hot off the heels of a Red Rocks set, a Port Zero EP and his BIN debut, the Mythm project is entering a new era.

Let's step into the world of MYTHM.

If you've been in the scene for a while, you may know him as the rudeboy with 140 and UK dubstep songs on labels like Wheel & Deal Records.

But if you've started following him recently, you're probably more familiar with the MYDDM sets — the raw, heavier riddim drops that have left us wanting more.

Now, he's leaning into a misfit mentality. He's evolving his project into a new form and a new world.

At his Red Rocks support set for the Subtronics show back in April, you may have noticed a new look. MYTHM debuted an outfit that aligns with a sharper and more defined direction.

He performed in a hooded, studded cape and mask while dropping heavy riddim on the rocks. This new direction creates a more immersive experience, pulling us into a dystopian world full of mystical and mythical energy.

Now, a piece of this identity was just released in the form of FLEX, his debut single on Beat Intelligence Network. Fans who attended the Red Rocks set will recognize the song, as it was rinsed out live to a nearly full amphitheater.

"As the MYTHM project has evolved, I've always wanted it to feel like more than just me, like stepping into a character when I walk on stage," MYTHM said. "It's me evolving into a new form, something sharper, darker and more defined, especially with the new outfit."

He told us that the sharp aesthetic lives in his heavy riddim sets; that's where the character fully comes out. For the 140 and UK dubstep sets, he said it's more stripped back. It's just him, no outfit.

MYTHM is designing two different sides of the same coin.

He's tapping into inspiration from projects like VOYD and REZZ, where you know who the person under the mask is, but the live set experience is non-human.

He told us that there are influences outside of music who shaped his name and new world, too.

"A lot of it came from the name itself, MYTHM," he said. "I started thinking in terms of mythical and medieval worlds mixed with dystopian energy. Stuff like Mad Max or Mortal Kombat, where it feels ancient and futuristic, and at the same time, raw but cinematic."

As for the live sets, things are becoming more intentional and immersive. He plans for future releases to follow that cohesive vision into the heavier sounds.

"This direction feels closer to who I am," MYTHM said. "There's less holding back. I'm leaning fully into the raw, heavier side of my sound and that misfit mentality I've always carried."

As you listen to his music and attend his sets, pay attention to the whole experience. From the audio to the visuals, you'll be pulled into the the mystical, mythical world of MYTHM.

Start your weekend early by bumping FLEX, out everywhere now.
