Denver's Electronic Wellness event blends EDM with sauna sets, mental health resources & Xotix afters

The events are hosted by AM Connections, Daycamp Wellness, Overdrive Defense, Colorado Bassheads and others on July 18.

To outsiders, Denver is known simply as the "Bass Capital."

But to those of us who live here, it's so much more.

It's a place where we come together, share our love for music and meet some of our best friends. It's a community where we can tap into resources and support.

All of the things that make Denver great are being rolled into one event called Electronic Wellness, happening Saturday, July 18. Two locations will host various events:

Starting at 9.am. at Nurture Wellcare Market at 2949 Federal Blvd, there will be panelists, sound baths and access to a portal with a sauna and cold plunge. This is where you'll be able to catch the sauna sets.

Across the street at Viking Park, there will be outdoor activities featuring pilates, meditation sessions, yoga, flow workshops, vendors and a stage that will host a very special guest in the afternoon. There will also be a group training from End Overdose and a Swoop Zone where you can meet new people.

In the evening, the Colorado Bassheads will be doing what they do best: Hosting the afters. Starting at 9 p.m. at Void Studios at 1790 S. Bannock St., speakers will be bumping and lasers will be flashing as Xotix headlines the event.

Electronic Wellness is hosted by AM Connections, and serves to bring the community together while reminding us of the incredible people and resources in our city. Proceeds from the event benefit community members who are in search of treatment, shelter and life-changing opportunities in their recovery journeys.

While the events will provide a space for us to let go, every ticket purchased benefits a larger cause.

Carter Bruning is the founder of Electronic Wellness. He was inspired to start the event because of his passion for working in the mental health space as a social worker. He worked in addiction issues and wanted to create a unique experience to raise money for his non-profit, AM Connections.

"AM Connections is a safety net so no one falls through the cracks," Bruning said. "AM Connections is named after my brothers Andrew and Matt, and is to honor them and help people who are in need. I hope everyone who is willing can get an opportunity to receive support."

He wanted to steer clear of the usual gala-style event where people ask for money. Instead, he's creating an experience where people walk away with impact, information and understanding. This is all combined with the EDM we love so much.

One of the hosts of the event is Daycamp Wellness, a social club located in Denver hosting meetups throughout the summer with the goal of building a strong community of people who crave balance and meaningful relationships in their lives.

Attendees of the event will also be some of the first to try out a new app called

Swoop is designed to help people make real-life connections. Attendees can download the app, take a quick selfie and instantly see other people also participating at the event. Once they leave they will be automatically removed.

Unlike other social media platforms, Swoop doesn't have feeds, followers or scrolling. It's designed to spark conversations between people already sharing the same experience in the same place. You don't have to pay or create a profile, and all of your personal data is deleted when you close out or leave.

The app allows you to privately chat with others at an event without sharing your name, email or phone number, and of course, connect with them IRL.

"There's a certain wonderful kineticness that happens when people are in the same place at any given moment," Swoop's Founder said. "We want people to connect in real life... The app is a facilitator, not a destination."

Electronic Wellness attendees will have access to a dedicated Swoop Zone at Viking Park where they can meet the people they connect with through the app.

To encourage people to use the app, Dubstep FBI will be giving away a pair of tickets to see Mersiv at Red Rocks. Anyone who completes a short survey after using Swoop will be entered to win. Download the app ahead of the event. You can learn more and download the app here: https://swoop.chat/.

Swoop's mission mirrors the larger point of Electronic Wellness: Creating opportunities for meaningful connections.

Whether you're coming for the yoga, the cold plunges, the music or simply to meet new people, this event is a reminder that Denver's community is about more than what happens on the dance floor.

It's about showing up for one another.

"I think it is important to prioritize wellbeing, mental and physical health because at the end of the day this mind, body and soul we have is the only one we are gonna get," Bruning said. "This also allows us to be there for others when the time arrives, because we can not truly help others fully if we are not connected with ourselves."
