Dubstep 2025: The FBI's picks for best performances, releases, creators & viral moments
- The Filthy Beat Inspectors

If you thought last year pushed the limits, 2025 said “hold my rail.”

This was the year chaos turned into culture.
Sounds evolved faster than we could ID them, renegades became routine and dubstep continued its takeover across stages big and small.
New artists broke through ceilings we didn’t even know existed, and veterans reshaped the landscape with every release.
But let’s be honest: 2025 wasn’t easy.
Between rising costs, industry uncertainty and the everyday stress of just trying to get by, a lot of us felt the weight.
And still, somehow, this community showed up. We packed clubs. We linked at festivals. We traveled when we could, streamed when we couldn’t and found moments of peace amidst all the chaos.
So if this year felt heavy, we see you. If music helped you through it, we’re right there with you. This community is the reason we keep digging, listening, investigating and celebrating the artists who make all of this worth it.
Thank you for spending another year hyping up the Dubstep FBI brand, our record label, Beat Intelligence Network, supporting our Riot Control Radio mixes, tuning into our Filthy Beat Inspectors podcasts, attending our stage hostings and sending us your favorite tracks at 2 a.m.
Your energy is the reason this mission continues.
Now crack open the case file: These are our favorite releases, sets, brands and viral moments of 2025.
We are always listening… ↓
FBI's TOP PICKS FOR 2025 PERFORMANCES

These were the sets that gave us an overwhelming sense of joy. They had us screaming like little kids, taking videos like no tomorrow and waking up with a big smile on our faces.
These sets wouldn't have been possible without the incredible venues that hosted them, the teams behind massive production setups, and the people who spent long nights making sure fans and attendees were safe on site.
It's worth noting that the driving forces behind these shows were the promoters. The people and teams who believed in these artists so much that they were willing to make major investments to bring artists to play live. The promoters who brought our community together and ensured there was a roof (or a tent) over our heads so we could rage.
Here are promoters who made the most out of 2025:
Amplitude (Congratulations on your 10-year anniversary!)
Now, on to the sets of the year:

Chango b2b PROXXXY at Dubstation Massacre
Changoxxy, Proxxango, Prango. Whatever you want to call it, these artists put on an absolute clinic for us at Dubstation Massacre. They had the second stage slammed with high knees and mosh pits, creating something that we talked about for weeks after the fest.
Decimate b2b Mad Dubz b2b Versa at Red Rocks
This Red Rocks set was one of the rarest forms: A b3b with riddim artists who each have their own unique style. We heard MAD DUBZ plates, Decimate's Sassy Fake and Versa's Another Yoi Song all blended together seamlessly within the hour sunset set.
Explorers of the Internet at Blacklist Festival
These hooligans delivered the most unhinged set of 2025. There were chairs in the moshpit, people playing twister, and they were feeding cheese and bananas to the crowd like it was part of their setlist!

Finnuh at Rampage Open Air
Finnuh came out swinging after winning the DJ Contest for the Dubstep FBI stage hosting. He gave this set his all and proved to the European crowd that Texas riddim deserves an international spotlight.

HEXX b2b Otsukare at Apocalypse
These ladies know what they're doing. This set was referred to as the best set of the festival night at Apocalypse: Zombieland in Long Beach, California. We look forward to more from Hexxukare in 2026.

INFEKT at Mission Ballroom
Hands-down one of the most impressive operations we saw all year. Beginning the day with a pop-up, INFEKT wowed the Denver crowds when he took the stage at Mission below two cargo crate-themed LEDs. Chops late into the night gave us what we craved with this Mile High Port Zero takeover.
Nimda at Rampage Open Air
Classic and textbook Nimda. Kids were climbing the poles, circle pits and walls of death were opening up. He took over the decks to a Storm Stage tent crawling with tearout lovers and yelled his way into night three of our beloved Rampage Open Air.
OG Nixin b2b Benda at Apocalypse
This set saved us. It was late into the festival night, and when this set came on, our batteries suddenly charged. Riddim and more riddim. They even brought up VICIOUS to play the OG Nixin collab track called Power Trip that dropped earlier this year on Beat Intelligence Network.
Onara Grocery Market Set with Cripta in Italy
2025 was the year of pop-ups and renegades. Onara and the Cripta crew took that one step further and threw a riddim pop-up in an Italian supermarket in March.

Riot Ten at Tomorrowland
Our agent on duty at Tomorrowland this year was @Balexdub who wired footage back home of Riot Ten's set. He was playing Railbreaker at the Shell Stage and the vibes were high. If you've been to Tomorrowland, you know that railbreakers are hard to find... the abundance of them at this stage, paired with a classic that got us into dubstep, made that set special.

SLANDER at Starbase
This was one of those "Holy Sh*t" moments. Your favorite FBI agents got to experience the first-ever Starbase Festival hosted by SLANDER at Lake Perris in California. Their headline set was high energy and unforgettable. You just had to be there. Read our full coverage here.

SweetTooth at Apocalypse
This was the best set of the weekend for us. Seeing SweetTooth come full circle to a crowd of what looked like 10,000 people in his home town at sunset just felt special. He played classic riddim doubles and debuted some of the new tunes from his band.

Subtronics at The Sphere
This was the moment in time where it felt like riddim finally went mainstream. Subtronics, someone who has always stayed true to his roots, played one of the world's most iconic stages and served as the first riddim artist to ever perform at the Sphere in Las Vegas. He even played WARLORD's viral hit, MR. SNAZZY JOGGED DUB to a sea of high knee-ers under the LED orb.

SVDDEN DEATH at Red Rocks
For OG fans of SVDDEN DEATH, this set delivered a charcuterie board of delights. We were served several throwback tunes from the NSD Black Label days, including an absolute stunner drop in Deceiver. He even brought out MVRDA for a mini b2b where they played Gates of Hell, among other collabs that gave us chills. This set capped a perfect two-day Red Rocks run and had us smiling ear-to-ear the next day.
SVDDEN DEATH b2b Nimda b2b Prosecute b2b yvm3 at Lost Lake Lounge with Club Studio Time
As if SVDDEN DEATH's two-day Red Rocks run couldn't have gotten any better, he teamed up with Club Studio Time for a last-minute afters at Lost Lake Lounge. This was shoulder-to-shoulder, gritty and grimey. It kept the party going until 2 a.m. and our dear friends at Club Studio Time recorded it all. This was quite possibly the best afters we have ever attended.

Versa b2b MVRDA at Goldrush Music Festival
Back again, huh? Trying to get revenge? This was a yee-haw of a set that featured two of the scene's most distinguishable artists going back-to-back at a cowboy-themed festival in the middle of the Arizona desert. It was the impetus for their song, The Showdown at Pioneer Peak, on BIN.
Honorable Mentions:
Codd Dubz b2b PYKE at Forbidden Kingdom
DJ Diesel at Tahoe Live
Gorilla T at Miami Music Week with BLNK CNVS
Mile32 at BASSBOX x Dubstep FBI x Riddim NYC takeover
Ray Volpe b2b Infekt Silent Disco Set at Rampage Open Air
Riddim XXL: Joust b2b Ophion b2b roi* b2b WARLORD at Club Studio Time
Smoakland at Reelworks
Versa at BASSBOX x Dubstep FBI x Riddim NYC takeover
VIRAL WTF MOMENTS OF 2025
There were several moments that left us saying, "What the f*ck?"
And let's be real, these are the moments that make the dubstep scene so special. They give us something to talk about, they create that yummy flair beyond the day-to-day drab and they are straight-up amplified with the virality of social media.
Here are some of the funny, unusual and notable moments of bass music in 2025:
Bear Grillz - You Got a Friend in Me
Beat Grillz is known for his dubstep spins on unexpected pop culture songs. You Got A Friend In Me was his short-lived, yet so catchy, take on the 1995 classic from Toy Story. Unfortunately, the deadline came and went for submission of this tune to the GRAMMYS.
I Hate Models playing Dack Janiels riddim
This one speaks for itself: Techno and Dubstep can indeed crossover. The iconic artist I Hate Models shocked everyone by dropping a Dack Janiels song called CHIN CHECK.
Skrillex dropping roi* at Ultra Music Festival
The undisputed GOAT of dubstep will always know what's good. Skrillex unexpectedly, out-of-nowhere, played out Roi The Digger at Ultra, causing a tsunami of internet chatter and launching roi* into space. This was the moment where we knew riddim was alive and well.

Subtronics breaking his ankle during a six-day run at The Shrine
File this under the "Oh sh*t" category. During a six-day run at The Shrine in LA, the iconic artist landed on his ankle wrong and broke a small piece of bone. He proceeded to perform the rest of his full set and bring Marshmello out for a b2b.
T-pain playing his first dubstep set at Lost Lands
In an unexpected turn of events, worldwide rap superstar T-Pain played a surprise set at The Crater where he opened up to thank the rave community for letting him in. This launched the dubstep side of his career to much admiration.
William Black accidentally leaked his OF...
So we’re locked into the feels during Blanke and William Black’s set, vibes are high, visuals are doing their thing, when suddenly it looks like the VJ accidentally flashes their desktop. For like one second. Long enough for everyone to see a folder that very clearly said “WILLIAM BLACK ONLY FANS (DO NOT OPEN).” One of those blink-and-you-miss-it moments that instantly became lore.
Watermelon in the pit... sick bro
In today's episode of Random Things You See In The Pit: A watermelon! Our homies who run pits all over the country decided to get fruity and slam one down on Juan Water Bottle in the Excision b2b ATLiens pit. Don't forget your eye protection next time, folks!
PHOTOGRAPHERS AND CONTENT CREATORS DOING THE MOST

What would "The Rave" be without the footage to show for it? Documenting the madness takes special talent and requires sleepless nights. From next-day deliverables to multi-cam recaps, these people are the beating heart of our scene and the smiling faces we see out.
We hope the photographers and videographers who travel for a living are scheduling in some much-deserved time off after New Year's Eve.
And special shoutout to the content creators who spend most of their lives online creating posts that help us keep up with all of the news within our scene. There will always be room in this community for pages who elevate artists.
Here are the content creators and media peeps who help preserve the best nights of our lives and promote our favorite songs in high definition.
FBI'S PICKS FOR TOP SONGS OF 2025
These were the tracks that lived rent-free in our heads all year. The ones we whistled along to, rewound instantly and told our friends about.
After starting our own record label in 2025, we know first-hand how much work it takes to release music. So props to every artist out there, whether you're a beginner just learning Ableton or a seasoned veteran teaching others, your music matters. Here are the releases that stood out to us.

2DY4 - ANATOMY OF SIN [Kannibalen]
ANATOMY OF SIN felt like a turning point for 2DY4. Dark, intentional and unapologetically heavy, this track leaned into atmosphere just as much as impact. It created tension, space and a sense of unease that made the drops hit even harder. This one stuck with listeners because it felt calculated and confident, not rushed or trendy. Read our full coverage here, written by @hiimchopstixx.
ATLiens - One Last Breath [Craft Recordings]
ATLiens took Creed’s ’02 anthem and turned the nostalgia into something people actually scream along to in a dubstep set.
Everyone knows the original vocals, so when that chorus comes up just before the drop, you feel it long before the bass hits hard. It became one of those rare remixes that gets people singing with hands up right before everything goes absolutely crazy.

ALLEYCVT, LEVEL UP - BELIEVE [Monstercat]
The build-up and lyrics for BELIEVE is just something you can't explain. The way it pulls you in before the heavy hit made it one of those tracks that gave people goosebumps live because you felt it before you heard the drop.
AVELLO - No Broke Boys Remix [Good Good Records]
AVELLO understood the assignment. This remix takes the original’s swagger and turns it into something that we can't help but sing along to. It’s addictive and clean, creating an effortless confidence that makes us feel richer just listening to it. This one lived in DJ folders all year.
Big Florida, BRASIVE, MYSTRVS - BAD MOFO [Self Released]
If you ever wondered what happens when three producers say, “let’s make something disrespectful,” this is it. BAD MOFO is loud and rude and proud of it. The drops on this song had the crowd chanting, "I'm a bad mother f*cker" all year long. If you don't know about BRASIVE, MYSTRVS and Big Florida, now you know.

Brainrack - Satellite [Cyclops Records]
Satellite was filthy and bouncy and every time it showed up in a set, you knew trouble was coming. This one started getting rinsed by names like Excision, Levity and Zingara early, and hearing it get hammered in those sets made it obvious it was going to be a hitter.
Crankdat - Candy Shop Remix (feat. Olivia) [Self Released]
Crankdat might just be incapable of missing. He took a nostalgic vocal that everyone knows from middle school and flipped it into something massive. This remix became a guaranteed crowd-pleaser without feeling cheesy.
GorillaT, Big Gigantic, Born I - Somewhere Up There [Self Released]
Although this song dropped less than two months ago, it's a positive anthem that lit up our year. "If you ever feel like it's getting rough, take a look in the mirror and say, 'I'm enough,'" the lyrics say, injecting sunshine into our veins.

IVORY - HIGH KNEES [Bassrush]
Name a more accurate song title — we’ll wait. HIGH KNEES does exactly that to people. The moment the drop hits, your body just reacts. IVORY has mastered the art of minimal but devastating production, and this track became an instant weapon for DJs everywhere.

LAYZ, RZRKT - HARDEST MFS [Bassrush]
No false advertising here. This song does exactly as advertised. LAYZ and RZRKT linked up and delivered a full-on railbreaker — aggressive sound design with drops that make you want to throw elbows immediately. When this came on, we knew the pit was about to get feral.

Levity - Can't Get Enough [Self Released]
Levity continues to be the definition of “fun without being corny.” Can’t Get Enough is bright and ridiculously catchy, but still hits hard enough to hold its own in heavier sets. It’s the kind of song that sneaks up on you and suddenly becomes your most played song of the year.

Ray Volpe, Vastive - GET SMACKED [VOLPEVERSE]
Ray Volpe and Vastive linked up and made a pure pit starter with zero filler and zero mercy. It has that instant, “oh we’re doing this right now,” energy. The second it drops, you can feel the room wake up and choose violence. If you like loud music that makes you make bad decisions, congrats, this is your anthem.

SVDDEN DEATH, PeelingFlesh, Nimda, yvm3 - Midnight [Self Released]
This collaboration was pure insanity on paper and somehow even crazier in execution. Midnight is violent and dark, pulling from each artist’s strengths without losing cohesion. It blurred the line between dubstep and tearout, and every time it hit a system, you could feel the room shift. If you don't know, now you know.

Seven Lions - By The Light of the Moon [Ophelia]
Seven Lions reminded everyone why he’s still one of the most respected names in bass music. This track is emotional without being soft, powerful without being overwhelming, and cinematic in a way that feels timeless. Perfect for those hands-up moments before the bass comes crashing back in.

Samplifire, INFEKT - True Trench Times [Monstercat]
This was a love letter to real riddim heads. Samplifire and INFEKT delivered a raw anthem that blends both of their sounds magically. True Trench Times became an instant staple, dropping right out of the gate on January 10, 2025. Simple and effective, riding on the "trench or riddim" conversations online.
Subtronics - Itchy Scratchy [Cyclops Recordings]
This track is a perfect example of the internet-to-festival pipeline actually working. After Paige Ewald went viral asking for, “itchy scratchy brain riddim,” Subtronics did what Subtronics does — grabbed the audio, flipped it and turned it into a banger.
The result is weird, bouncy and fun, with playful sound design that still smacks way harder than it has any right to. Every time it dropped, people lost their minds knowing exactly where it came from.
TYNAN, Izadi - groovininininin [Self Released]
This one is fun in a way that still hits hard. groovininininin creates bounce and rhythm so heavy that it grabs your shoulders and makes you move. It is weird, catchy, and built for that middle-of-the-set moment where everyone stops headbanging and starts dancing like they mean it. This track reminded people groove can be just as deadly as brute force.

WARLORD - MR. SNAZZY JOGGED DUB and remixes [Self Released] [Remixes on Beat Intelligence Network]
Two years after its initial release, MR. SNAZZY JOGGED DUB evolved into a full-blown internet phenomenon in 2025, soundtracking over 4,000 TikTok edits and melting faces in sets from bass heavyweights like Subtronics, Tape B, Kompany and Levity. WARLORD teamed up with us at BIN and poured fuel on the fire with a seven-track remix pack featuring artists like Sanzu, Midroll, Ophion and FIELDZ, Minima and TW!STY, Inaktiv and JG Dubz.

YDG, Laszewo - hey lil mama [BREAKAWAY, Boom Records]
This one hit different. It was smooth and bass-forward without being overwhelming, hey lil mama showed a softer but still impactful side of both artists. It stood out in a year dominated by heaviness and proved that vibe-heavy tracks still deserve space in dubstep sets.

Zeds Dead - One Of These Mornings [Deadbeats]
Zeds Dead really tapped into their roots while still sounding completely current. One Of These Mornings felt nostalgic while blending soulful vocals with modern bass production. It felt honest and timeless. This was a slow-burn favorite that aged beautifully throughout the year.
Honorable Mentions:
All The Reason - Wait the Trap [Self Released]
AlienPark - Middle Fingers [Bassweight Records]
Aweminus, Phiso - Spenk [Bassrush Records]

FBI's TOP PICKS FOR ALBUMS, COMPILATIONS & EPs OF 2025
Alas, the full bodies of work that artists spent years, if not their entire careers, writing. These are the projects that defined their brands and garnered new listeners. Here are our no-skip, front-to-back projects that shaped the face of EDM in 2025.

ALLEYCVT - 9 LIVES [SUPERSONIC RECORDS]
This project felt like a big step forward for ALLEYCVT. With five tracks, 9 LIVES showed her range while staying true to her sound. It was full of emotional moments and hard drops. It felt personal and intentional without feeling overproduced.

beastboi. - THE BLOOD OF THE STARS [Self Released]
This project is cinematic and personal to who beastboi. is as an artist. THE BLOOD OF THE STARS balanced emotional depth with hard-hitting bass, creating a release that felt like a journey. beastboi. is wrapping up an insane 2025 full of international highlights, including a performance at Rampage Open Air and a mini tour in Australia.
Doctor P & Flux Pavilion - Doctor P & Flux Pavilion [Circus Records]
This album is special for obvious reasons. Two of dubstep’s OG names coming together for a full project that isn't forced or nostalgic for the sake of it. The tracklist balanced featured their classic energy and signature sound designs, and it was just fun to listen to. We also saw them play a whole bunch of throwbacks at Club Studio Time earlier this year.

Dr. Ushuu - Ushuuverse [Tales of Serpentale]
This project captured everything we love about Dr. Ushuu. A 16-track album built around his addictive sound, with enough tracks to really flesh out the concept and creative identity. Ushuuverse abducted us into his cosmic world, and gave us a peek inside what life is really like inside his head. It even included the long-awaited USHUUMHATE collab with Automhate. Check out our full release coverage here.

Effin - Daydreams [Self Released]
Daydreams feels thoughtful and intentional, with each track contributing to the overall mood. Effin has always balanced feeling and bass well, but this project really showed growth in how those ideas came together across a full release. He just wrapped up his DAYDREAMS tour for 2025 with a sell-out at Denver's Ogden Theatre.
INFEKT - VEGGIE CARGO LP [Port Zero]
A full-length riddim album that had our mouths watering the entire way through. VEGGIE CARGO has a stacked tracklist featuring technical bangers with playful drops. This was one of the biggest releases on INFEKT's new label, Port Zero.
Jkyl & Hyde - Second Self [Self Released]
This six-track album features several songs that absolutely blew up. It has variation with unique vocals and vibey drops, and it was an intentionally curated project, complete with meaningful creative. The most popular songs on this album are Runaway and Sensory Session, each clocking over 1.5M streams on Spotify alone.

KOMPANY - Nemesis [Monstercat]
This was one of the most highly anticipated bodies of work all year. It featured mouthwatering collabs with artists like Samplifire, Careless Castle and of course, IVORY and Raxdflipnote on the single, JACKPOT, that dropped in 2024.
KOMPANY launched a successful tour named after this EP, and ended the year teaching T-Pain how to produce dubstep at the Bass Boot Camp in December. He's kicking off 2026 with a double header show at Denver's Ogden Theater on January 23 & 24.

LEVITY - Snack Pack Vol. 1 [Ultra Records]
Short, sweet and exactly what it needed to be. This EP didn’t try to do too much. A handful of fun, catchy tracks that captured Levity’s energy perfectly. It felt like a snapshot of where they’re at right now, and it blew the f*ck up, with five out of six songs gaining more than 1 million streams in just a few weeks.
LEVITY rode the coattails of this EP into their larger-than-life LASERSHIP tour, where they sold out two nights at The Shrine and another two at Denver's Mission Ballroom.
LYNY - Noise To Dance To [Noxious Records]
This project lit fire as soon as it was released, earning shoutouts from industry giants like DJ DIESEL who called it album of the year. Section quickly went viral, garnering millions of streams and triggering a flurry of bootleg remixes from the underground. LYNY continues to be one of the more interesting artists to watch, and this album made that even clearer.

Modestep - Give Up The Ghost [Self Released]
This was a masterful body of work from Modestep, serving as the artist's most recent album in 10 years. Give Up The Ghost balanced Modestep's emotional songwriting with world-class sound design. It kicked off what Modestep called "the best tour of our career," spanning two months and over 10 countries.
PhaseOne - TERRANOVA [Sounds Of Mayhem]
PhaseOne stayed in his bag on this one. TERRANOVA delivered that metal-and-bass crossover energy that we have come to know and love from his label, Sounds of Mayhem. One of our favorite songs is LULLABY with HVDES. This album mattered because it reinforced PhaseOne as one of the best at blending two different worlds of heavy music.
Ray Volpe - FOREVER, VOLPETRON [Self Released]
This album was built for live shows and festival sets. It features a packed tracklist full of high-energy moments with sing-along drops. Superstar collabs include TYNAN, Virtual Riot, Vastive, Sullivan King and more. These were the anthems that thousands screamed live around the world.
This album was impossible to ignore. This release didn’t follow a clean structure and that was kind of the point. Fans were also rewarded with the long-awaited, VOLTAGE . It included a wide range of tracks, ideas and sounds that sparked conversation across the entire EDM space. Whether you loved it or hated it, it mattered.
Space Laces - Vaultage 004 [High Vaultage]
Another entry in the Vaultage series and another reminder of why Space Laces is Space Laces. A compilation-style release packed with IDs people had been waiting on, plus some surprises. This was a stellar album from your favorite producer's favorite producer.
Subtronics - Fibonacci Pt 2: Infinity [Cyclops Recordings]
Subtronics did not play it safe with this one. It featured a bigger tracklist, bigger ideas and more of the detailed sound design that’s become Subtronics’ signature. Infinity felt like a natural continuation of the Fibonacci concept.

Skybreak - HALF BLOOD [Self Released]
An emotional, story-driven album that was carefully arranged from start to finish. HALF BLOOD explored Skybreak's identity and vulnerability through melodic bass in a way that felt genuine. This album earned Skybreak an invite to tour the Soundcloud headquarters in New York City.

Vastive - New Levels New Devils [Self Released]
Vastive will never give up. This album captured who he really is as an artist and uncovered some of his internal struggles as he shared them with the world through bone-chilling lyrics. New Levels New Devils felt like Vastive making a clear statement about how hard he wants his music to hit. Read our full coverage here.

Versa - The Orange EP [DPMO]
This EP captures Versa's punchy and lethal sounds. The Orange EP includes Versa’s signature aggression, creating a no-skip release. Each track was designed for maximum impact in the pit. And let's just say our thirst was quenched with Slides, the mindblowingly catchy Chibs collab.
